PORT ANGELES — A man accused of taking musical instruments from a Port Angeles residence Friday was charged Monday with first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery and heroin possession.
Collin J. Kennedy will be arraigned Friday in Clallam County Superior Court.
Kennedy, 24, of Port Angeles allegedly drew a knife on the lead singer of a band who had confronted Kennedy as he stole a bass guitar from his house at 1213 W. 17th St.
Port Angeles police said the burglar tossed the instrument over a fence, pulled a knife on musician John Kingsley and fled to Lincoln Park.
Kennedy was arrested after a brief multi-agency search.
He is being held in the Clallam County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Kingsley, the front man for The Mudbanks grunge band, told city police that he followed the burglar until he drew one of three knifes he had tucked into his waistband, Cpl. John Powless wrote in the arrest narrative.
Port Angeles police, Clallam County sheriff’s deputies, Elwha tribal police and the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team swarmed the area and arrested Kennedy at Lincoln Park.
The cracked bass guitar and other musical instruments were recovered, police said.
