PORT ANGELES — Police arrested a man early Saturday morning after a party was disrupted Friday evening by gunshots.
No one was hurt.
Police said that after 29-year-old Port Angeles resident Micah D. West had been told to leave the Port Angeles home, he returned with multiple handguns and began shooting into the residence.
Police Angeles police officers arrested West for investigation of first-degree assault after he emerged from the Tumwater Creek valley near the home in the 600 block of West 13th Street at 1:41 a.m. Saturday, about 2½ hours after the shooting.
Police said they had contacted him via cell phone and persuaded him to surrender.
“I believe that we are very fortunate that no one was injured in this instance,” Police Chief Terry Gallagher said, adding that police believe alcohol was a factor.
Six adults and six children, of unknown ages, were inside the home, he said.
Gallagher said West fired at least six shots with a .454-caliber revolver and a .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol.
He opened fire after being unable to enter the residence, the police chief said.
Bullets struck a waterline, stereo, fence and garage.
West also fired shots into a van, Gallagher said.
