PORT TOWNSEND — A 46-year-old Seattle man was in critical condition Monday at Harrison Medical Center after being stabbed in the back numerous times Friday at the WorldMark Discovery Bay Resort at Discovery Bay, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.
Donovan Smart, 21, of Port Angeles, was arrested at the scene for investigation of first-degree assault, Chief Criminal Deputy Joe Nole said.
Nole did not name victim but said he was on a ventilator in the intensive care unit of the Bremerton hospital.
The stabbing was reported at 3:28 a.m. Friday at 141 Orcas Drive, where the victim had been staying at a condominium with two Seattle acquaintances, ages 27 and 23, Nole said.
The three men met Smart at a Port Angeles bar Friday and invited him back to their condo.
Two of the men went to one of the bedrooms while the victim and Smart remained in another part of the unit, Nole said.
“About 20 minutes later, the two men heard pounding on their bedroom door, and when they opened it, they saw the victim screaming for help and stating that he had been stabbed,” Nole said.
“Smart was present near the victim.”
The two men said the victim was bleeding profusely from his wounds. The men phoned 9-1-1 and began to provide first aid.
Jefferson County sheriff’s detectives processed the crime scene with the assistance of a State Patrol incident response team, Nole said.
The case is still under investigation.
