PORT ANGELES — Lower Elwha Klallam tribal officials are carefully combing through a state Transportation Department archeological survey plan Transportation officials Thursday.
The tribe received the proposal, reportedly 12 pages long, from Transportation officials on Tuesday.
Thursday’s meeting is intended to address tribal and state officials’ concerns to help restart work at the $17 million Transportation graving yard site.
The project — which would build an on-shore dry dock for building components for the Hood Canal Bridge — was idled Aug. 26 because of the discovery of Native American remains less than three weeks after the project started.
