Port Angeles: Kenmore Express begins courting passengers

PORT ANGELES — The second airline offering service between William R. Fairchild International Airport and Seattle’s Boeing Field is gearing up to convince travelers that it’s easier flying into the less busy airport.

Kenmore Air Express, a division of Seattle-based Kenmore Air, began regular service between Port Angeles and Boeing Field with a 5:30 a.m. departure from Fairchild on Saturday.

The airline offers five daily round trips, seven days a week, between Port Angeles and Boeing Field. It also offers free shuttle service to and from Boeing Field to the check-in level of SeaTac International Airport.

It becomes the second airline to fly from Port Angeles to Boeing Field.

San Juan Airlines began offering regular roundtrip service on Jan. 7, replacing Horizon Airlines.

“In some ways, flying into Boeing Field is better than Sea-Tac,” said Kenmore Air Express pilot Tom Tilson, who also flew the Port Angeles route with Horizon Airlines from 1985-1992.

“We are just trying to convince people that flying into Boeing is better, especially if you are going into downtown Seattle or to a Mariners game,” Tilson said.
