PORT ANGELES – The Rider Angels, the Port Angeles High School dance team, are to be girls about town for a new calendar.
The group of 20 high school precision dancers are working on the 2008 calendar featuring photos of the team at various Port Angeles landmarks.
Some of the photos have already been assigned to a month – such as the shoot from the cemetery which will, naturally, run as the spookiest month of the year, October.
“We had to have something for Halloween, of course,” said Jolene Dalton Gailey, coach and founder of the dance team.
The team does dances at basketball, football and other sporting events as well as performing special concerts during the year.
Gailey compares the team with dance teams such as the Sea Gals of the Seattle Seahawks.
Gailey came up with the idea after a former Rider Angel, Jessica Northern, talked about her experiences on semi-professional teams and this year made the Sea Gals roster.
