ceremonies Wednesday
Groundbreaking ceremonies for the Port Angeles graving yard begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday on the 25-acre site off Marine Drive west of the downtown area between Hill Street and the Daishowa America Ltd. paper mill.
The public is invited. Look for signs along Marine Drive on where to park. “The first shovelful”‘ is scheduled for 11:10 a.m.
Speakers will include top state, city, county and Port of Port Angeles officials and representatives of the contractor, Kiewit Building Group and General Construction of Poulsbo.
The $17 million graving yard, a massive onshore dry dock, will produce new pontoons and anchors for refurbishing the Hood Canal Bridge.
