PORT ANGELES — Four days after his daughter was shot to death by a Washington State Patrol trooper, Ed Hammer is trying to put his life back together.
Hammer, 68, of Port Angeles said the death of his daughter, Rosa Hammer, has shaken his world and that of his 5-year-old granddaughter, Lanna.
Ms. Hammer was shot to death Thursday night during an exchange of gunfire with trooper Ron Kessler after a traffic stop on state Route 16, near the intersection of state Route 3, south of Bremerton.
Kessler was shot in the right hand and hospitalized.
“I was out at the cemetery today,” Hammer said Sunday. “I picked out a site for her and me, side-by-side.”
The 27-year-old mother will be buried at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Angeles Memorial Park, he said. A reception will follow at Ms. Hammer’s house on East Orcas Avenue.
Viewing is planned for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Home, 105 W. Fourth St.
