PORT ANGELES — Village Concepts of Port Angeles/Park View Villas will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser to support the Forks VFW effort to bring a Gold Star Families Memorial monument to Forks on Sunday.
The breakfast will be from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at 1430 Park View Lane, Port Angeles.
Admission will be $10, $7 for seniors. No reservations are needed.
The full breakfast will include Gold Star pancakes, a Denver frittata, sausage patties, fresh fruit and homemade cinnamon rolls.
Led by Tom and Janet Hughes, Forks VFW members are in fundraising and planning for a September 2019 installation of the monument.
The closest of these monuments, of which there are more than 50 in the United States, is in Sparks, Nev.
The monument coming to Forks would not only be the first in Washington state, but the first in the Pacific Northwest.
The breakfast will include entertainment by local musician Carlos Xavier and raffle prizes.
Tom and Janet Hughes will be on hand to talk about the project and show the model of the monument.
They also will sell “Challenge Coins” and have lapel pins to give as gifts for those who make donations.
