PORT ANGELES — Friends of the 16-year-old girl injured last Friday in an all-terrain vehicle crash are hoping the “energetic, upbeat and positive” teen recovers quickly.
Tamra L. Swisher, who completed her sophomore year at Port Angeles High School last year, has yet to wake up from the crash that killed her friend, 20-year-old Matthew Edwards of Port Angeles.
Swisher remained in Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Wednesday.
A nursing supervisor said Swisher is in satisfactory condition.
“They have transferred her out of ICU and moved her into neurology, which is a good sign,” said Swisher’s friend Ashley Northup.
“Everyone should keep her in their prayers.
“She is a strong girl and we are not meant to lose her — she is a fighter and is going to be OK.”
Northup said she is in contact daily with Swisher’s mother and stepfather, Janette and Chris Bariel, and father, Michael Swisher, who are staying in Seattle to be with their daughter.
“She is breathing on her own, but still unconscious,” Northrup said Wednesday. “But she is doing a lot better and has been more responsive.
“She has started to feel pain and seems to be getting stronger.”
