MOSES LAKE — The Washington State Babe Ruth softball champions Port Angeles 16-and-under and 12-U teams split two games each in the opening rounds of the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament on Friday.
Port Angeles 16-U lost its first game 4-2 to Othello, but bounced back to win 4-3 over Trail, British Columbia, in eight innings.
Kirsten Allen had the game winning hit against Trail for Port Angeles, driving in Britt Brodhun in the top of the eighth.
Earlier on Friday against Othello, Port Angeles kept the game close, but was unable to muster any offense after scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Audrey Chard pitched the complete game and took the loss for Port Angeles.
In 12-U play on Friday, Port Angeles lost 15-1 to Othello in four innings, and beat Forks 16-5.
