PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles School District has announced that Veronica Schaefermeyer has won its 2019 School Bus Safety Poster Contest.
Veronica, a first-grader at Franklin Elementary School, also has placed first in her division at the regional contest in Bremerton.
The contest rules require students to design a poster on 11-inch-by-17-inch paper by hand and under the supervision of a teacher.
Posters had to incorporate this year’s theme “Red Lights Mean STOP!” and show at least a portion of a yellow school bus.
Karen Ross, the district’s transportation director, will take Veronica’s poster to the state competition at the Washington Association for Pupil Transportation from June 23-26 in Kennewick.
