PORT ANGELES — Passengers from the Spirit of Oceanus will walk down the gangplank onto City Pier today to mark the final visit of the ocean liner.
Since Sept. 4, the 295-foot, Seattle-based ship has made Port Angeles a Tuesday port o’ call during its weekly Northwest Waterways Cruise from Puget Sound to northern Vancouver Island and Victoria.
And with the Oceanus has come increased business revenues of more than $20,000 in fees, souvenirs and admissions to various locales in Port Angeles and Olympic National Park, according to merchants and city officials.
As they’re expected to do this morning, business owners, city officials and citizens met the cruise ship each Tuesday with warm greetings and information about the area.
The Port Angeles Downtown Association and the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce provided gift bags which included maps of the city, coupons and small gift items.
