PORT ANGELES — Empty seats and mechanical problems are leading to a glut of flight cancellations by beleaguered Harbor Air between Port Angeles and Seattle’s No. 2 airport.
Harbor Air already is experiencing problems because of its recent ouster from the No. 1 airport, Seattle-Tacoma International.
The Northwest’s smallest air carrier flies connects Port Angeles’ Fairchild International Airport with Seattle’s Boeing Field. Passengers connecting to flights out of Sea-Tac are bused 12 miles to the international airport.
From Friday to Monday afternoon, Harbor Air had nine canceled flights out of 16 scheduled. Most of the cancellations were because of lack of bookings, said Rick Jones, Harbor Air’s director of marketing and sales.
Some of the non-flights were caused by mechanical problems, too.
All Harbor passengers were contacted before their departures and booked on Horizon Air, which flies between Port Angeles and Sea-Tac, Jones said.
