PORT ANGELES – Already months behind schedule, a sewer to the anticipated Wal-Mart Supercenter is almost $500,000 over its estimated cost.
The line from the city of Port Angeles sewage-treatment plant to U.S. Highway 101 at North Masters Road could cost close to the $6 million cap Clallam County has set upon the project.
The county is financing the sewer through its Opportunity Fund. The city of Port Angeles is overseeing the project, and Primo Construction Inc. of Sequim is building it.
The sewer originally was set for completion in November at a cost of about $5 million.
Clallam County commissioners learned Monday that it won’t be finished until spring 2008.
