PORT ANGELES — Nearly 50 people rallied for peace in Veterans Memorial Park on Thursday.
Some carried picket signs; others carried candles.
Some opposed any military retaliation, some supported limited military action.
But all were strongly opposed to the loss of more innocent lives in response to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
“Go out and wage peace,” said Rev. Vincent Murray of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
Murray’s speech came as he led the rally while speaking in front of the park’s Liberty Bell.
Murray said that all people, including those in the United States and Afghanistan, are children of God.
“They are brothers and sisters and our brothers and sisters,” Murray said.
Following Murray’s speech, the group marched south along Lincoln Street waving signs.
