The Port Angeles City Council is scheduled to meet today to deliberate on whether environmental studies are needed before following through with a 2003 vote to fluoridate city water.
The council is scheduled to meet at 4:30 p.m. — 90 minutes before a regular council meeting — to discuss testimony and data from two public hearings last week.
It was unclear whether the council would hold the discussion in closed-door executive session. Fluoride opponents and Peninsula Daily News have urged the council to discuss the matter openly, citing overwhelming public interest in the fluoridation issue.
City Manager Mike Quinn told Peninsula News Network that if the council reaches a decision in executive session, it will be announced during the 6 p.m. regular session.
