PORT ANGELES — The City Council will have two new faces and two familiar ones in 2002 if initial results from Tuesday’s general election hold.
Former Mayor Gary Braun was leading Bruce Hattendorf for Position 1, being vacated by Cathleen McKeown.
Braun had 1,875 votes, or 67 percent, to Hattendorf’s 940 votes, or 33 percent.
Braun has served two terms on the City Council. Hattendorf is an English professor at Peninsula College.
Position 2 incumbent Larry Williams was leading John Logelin by count of 1,588 (57.5 percent) to 1,174 (42.5 percent).
Williams is a real estate broker. Logelin is a retired Peninsula Plywood Co. employee.
In the race for Position 3, being vacated by Mayor Larry Doyle, Karen Rogers tallied 61 percent, or 1,666 votes, to Tom Bihn’s 39 percent, or 1,066 votes.
In the race for Position 4, being vacated by Jim Hulett, Richard Headrick was leading Tad Price. Headrick had recorded 1,743 votes, or 64 percent, to Price’s 980 votes, or 36 percent.
Price is the mill manager at Olympic Wood Products, Inc. Headrick is a semiretired judge.
