PORT ANGELES — Three pairs of City Council candidates and the two Port of Port Angeles hopefuls faced off Monday night at City Hall in a candidates forum hosted by the League of Women Voters.
Port Angeles City Council challenger Cherie Kidd said she is running because it is important people have a choice for change.
The City Council must be representative and responsive to the people, Kidd said.
Incumbent City Councilman Larry Williams said this job has been very instructional for him and people asked him to run for another term.
Clallam Transit System driver Jerry Morris said he is challenging incumbent Karen Rogers because he is concerned about how the area’s rapid growth will be handled and how it will affect the city’s future.
The “highest and best use” land use concept is economic, not spiritual, he said.
Rogers said the key issue is proper use of limited land.
