PORT ANGELES — The state Department of Corrections is searching for a convicted sex offender who failed to check in with his supervisor after posting bail earlier this week.
Kevin Haynes Corning, 30, who also goes by Kevin Doty, preys on young girls and convinces them to have sex with him, Community Corrections Officer Lourene O’Brien said Thursday.
“He’s not a person who’s going to lurk in bushes,” she said.
“He likes underage girls. He meets them, he gains their trust and he talks them into having sex with him. But he does it on a very regular basis.”
Corning was arrested last week and charged Monday in Clallam County Superior Court with third-degree rape of a child for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old girl in Port Angeles earlier this year, according to court records.
