PORT ANGELES — Contributions are within $28,000 of the $100,000 needed to begin construction of a skateboarding park in Port Angeles.
Last week, Port Angeles’ Nippon Paper Industries USA Co. Ltd. contributed $4,000, and Action Property Management in Sequim donated $1,000 — and challenged other real estate firms to step up with a similar contribution.
“We believe in supporting our community, and especially the youth of our community,” said Walt Schubert, the broker/owner of Action Property who is also the mayor of Sequim.
“We believe that regional support of both Sequim and Port Angeles is to the benefit of both communities.
“I know the real estate offices of both communities to be businesses committed to the future and the youth of this area — and I hope they will step up and match our contribution.”
After hearing the challenge, Alan and Michaelle Barnard of the ReMax Performance Team in Port Angeles matched Schubert’s $1,000.
“This is a great idea and will definitely benefit the children of our area — count us in,” said Michaelle.
