PORT ANGELES — Volunteer bulb planters will be greeted by a canopy tent on the Red Lion Hotel parking lot Monday morning.
That’s when professional horticulturist and PDN garden columnist Andrew May organizes a daylong planting of 30,000 flower bulbs in downtown Port Angeles’ raised sidewalk planters.
The bulbs were donated by the Fred Meyer Corp. and arranged through Port Angeles resident Kate McDermott. The planting is sponsored by the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce.
The planting of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths will coincide with Martin Luther King Day on Monday, May said.
Volunteers are asked to bring shovels and “dress for dirt,” May said, and arrive at the canopy tent on the Red Lion parking lot at 9 a.m.
The planting will conclude at 5 p.m., he said.
