PORT ANGELES — Gentlemen (and ladies), start your engines!
There are three free car shows in Port Angeles tonight, Saturday and Sunday — and a motorcycle rally next Friday night:
* Tonight’s Ruddell Auto Mall eighth annual Cruise-In brings hundreds of classic cars and hot rods of all makes, models and restoration levels to the dealership located at 110 Golf Course Road.
The Ruddell show runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Admission is free of charge, but a donation of canned food items for the Port Angeles Food Bank is suggested.
The Old Timers Club will be among those showing their cars and trucks at the Ruddell show.
The Fabulous Cyclones band will play from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, soda and ice cream will also be available for a nominal fee.
* On Saturday, the Porsche Club will exhibit cars on Port Angeles City Pier from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of this weekend’s Arts in Action festival and sand sculpture exhibition at the pier and on Hollywood Beach.
Dancing on the pier follows the car show from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with music by The Works.
Like the rest of Arts in Action, admission is free to the car show and dance.
* On Sunday, it’s a “do-it-yourself” car show.
Arts in Action’s Street Rods Invitational at City Pier from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. is open to all car buffs in Jefferson and Clallam counties.
“One request we got last year was from local car aficionados asking for a chance for them to strut their stuff,” said Ted Groves, one of the festival’s organizers.
“So this year, Sunday is going to be for them.”
To show off your car or truck at the pier, contact Groves at 360-452-3635, or just come down to the pier at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
There is a $10 registration fee.
“Classics, street rods, you name it — folks around here love seeing a beautiful machine, and we’re hoping area owners will oblige them,” says Groves.
Motorcyclists next
In addition, the Ruddell Auto Mall is sponsoring the Gold Wing Rally next Friday, July 30, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
More than 175 Honda Gold Wing and Valkyrie motorcycles are expected, including a special appearance by members of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
Music will be provided by the Fat Chance rock band from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
There will also be a special exhibition of Gold Wings in the Ruddell showroom Monday through Friday.
