Port Angeles City Pier to be ‘pinked up’ today (Wednesday) for annual fundraiser

PORT ANGELES — City Pier will go pink today for the event in the Pink Up Port Angeles fundraiser.

All proceeds from the Pink Up Port Angeles campaign, an annual fundraiser by the Port Angeles Soroptimist Noon Club, go to the all-volunteer Operation Uplift, a Port Angeles-based group that provides help and information for people with cancer.

Starting at 6 p.m., City Pier will host Concert on the Pier while vendors sell “all things pink,” according to Linda deBord, coordinator of the annual fundraiser.

Music, bubbles compliments of Kandu Enterprise, cookies made by North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center students — sponsored by Angeles Collision and Towing — and information on cancer prevention will be presented.

Earrings, socks, T-shirts — all pink — will be sold.

The event is sponsored by Olympic Peninsula Title Co.

Coming up this week will be a golf tournament Friday and a bake sale Saturday.

A spaghetti dinner at Chestnut Cottage is planned Saturday, June 28.

■ Golf tournament — After a shotgun start at noon Friday at the Peninsula Golf Club, 824 S. Lindberg Road, a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE will be awarded to the winner of the hole-in-one contest.

Other prizes will be awarded in other contests and to the winners of the tournament.

The cost is $95 or $60 for members of the golf club.

To register or for more information, phone Jacob Lippold at the club at 360-457-6501.

■ Bake sale — Saturday’s bake sale of goods prepared by Soroptimists will begin at 9 a.m. at Swain’s General Store, 602 E. First St.

■ Spaghetti dinner — An all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner with “celebrity” waiters will be from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 28 at Chestnut Cottage, 929 E. Front St.

The dinner of salad, garlic bread and spaghetti will be $10, with dessert, wine and beer available for an additional fee.

The waiters, well-known people around town, will vie for tips for the cause.

For more information on Operation Uplift, visit the office at 118 N. Liberty St., Suite B, Port Angeles; phone 360-457-5141; email info@operationuplift.org; or visit www.operationuplift.org.
