PORT ANGELES — Thursday’s nine-hour closure of the Tumwater Creek bridge gave residents a preview of what life will be like in 2005-06 when both Eighth Street bridges will be replaced.
Now city officials are providing three opportunities for people and businesses to share those experiences and other concerns about the loss of a major link to the city’s western neighborhoods.
City officials are meeting with businesses and special interest groups from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Dec. 12 at City Hall to discuss habitat preservation, open space, tribal and other issues, said City Engineer Terri Partch.
A second meeting with government and Clallam Transit System officials is planned later that day to discuss detours and delays connected with the bridge projects, she said.
The Dec. 12 meetings will be very specific to those groups, Partch said.
A meeting for the general public is being planned for Jan. 15, she said.
