PORT ANGELES — The City Council will seek bids for the repair of a landslide along the edge of Race Street, which has been blocked off since November.
The Port Angeles City Council on Tuesday authorized city staff to seek bids for the repair project once a design is completed.
At the same meeting, the council also awarded a $32,027 contract to Lakeside Industries to pave a portion of Marine Drive damaged last December when a water main broke.
The slide on Race Street near Park Avenue occurred because of heavy rainfall in November. It damaged a portion of the shoulder, which has since been blocked off for safety.
In December, the council approved $33,270 to be spent on contracting services for surveying the area, designing a fix and submitting permits.
City staff estimate that it will cost $190,000 to stabilize the slope and repair the damaged shoulder.
Other upcoming road projects include street overlays, such as downtown on Front and possibly First streets, and construction of sidewalks on 16th Street between G Street and Stevens Middle School.
