PORT ANGELES — City engineers should have a better idea by October whether to renovate or restore the historical Carnegie Library on Lincoln Street, Public Works Director Glenn Cutler said.
About 35 percent of the design work on the 83-year-old building should be done by late September or early October, Cutler said. City officials should have a better project cost estimate at that point, then they will ask the City Council for direction.
Information on the value engineering study for the renovation/restoration was provided at the July 17 council meeting.
Cutler said then that he would return to the council in September or October with a cost analysis for both restoration and renovation.
He said he hopes to begin construction in the spring of 2002.
