Port Angeles’ Eighth Street bridge over Tumwater Creek will be closed for four hours today and two hours Saturday so that preliminary construction work can be completed.
The trestle bridge will be blocked to traffic between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. today, and 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, said Jim Mahlum, a civil engineer for the project.
Earlier closures this week allowed for completion of similar construction on the other Eighth Street bridge over Valley Creek, Mahlum said. Both are scheduled for replacement starting next year.
Traffic today and Saturday will be detoured on Cedar Street to Marine Drive, up Tumwater Street to Fifth Street, then Fifth to A Street and south to Eighth.
