PORT ANGELES — John Lucero is no stranger to the Arts in Action Street Fair.
In fact, he can remember attending the arts shindig in 1973.
“But I don’t know if they called it Arts in Action back then,” the Port Angeles resident said.
On Saturday, watching the finishing touches being put on sand sculptures at Hollywood Beach, Lucero said he was pleased at how the event has grown.
When he first started attending, it was held downtown.
Now the event takes place at City Pier, although some attractions are still found downtown.
“Instead of being right in the city you have a little more elbow room,” he said.
Saturday was the second day of the event, which features artisans selling their own work, the constant sound of music, snow cones to pizza, classic cars, a sand sculpting contest with $1,500 going to the first-place winner, and sunshine, a sometimes rare commodity this summer on the North Olympic Peninsula.
The events continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.
