PORT ANGELES — Two of World War II’s most famous aircraft will be on display June 16-18 at William R. Fairchild International Airport in Port Angeles, courtesy of the nonprofit Collings Foundation of Stow, Mass.
One aircraft is a B17G Flying Fortress, probably the most famous airplane of World War II. This particular airplane is one of only nine airworthy B-17s left.
The other is the only fully restored and flying B-24 Liberator, whose long operating range proved useful in the European, Pacific, North African and Middle Eastern campaigns.
