PORT ANGELES — The Air National Guard Band of the Northwest will perform a free public concert Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at City Pier.
The concert is a special addition to this summer’s Wednesday evening Concert on the Pier series.
Saturday’s performance of pop music, Americana and patriotic tunes will honor veterans on the North Olympic Peninsula and Peninsula residents currently serving in the armed forces.
One of 11 bands in the Air National Guard, the Band of the Northwest — officially, the 560th Air Force Band — is assigned to the 141st Air Refueling Wing, Washington Air National Guard, at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane.
It is under the command of 1st Lt. Jim Phillips.
Organizers recommend getting to the pier by 1:45 p.m. to claim one of the limited number of chairs that will be provided for the event.
