PORT ANGELES — An 11-year-old boy is among the youngest to be certified in Clallam County to serve food.
Ian McPhee, who works with his father, Frank, at McPhee’s Parkway Grocery — at the corner of Race and Eighth streets — was recently certified to serve food by Clallam County.
Ian scored a perfect 100 percent on the test, allowing him to cook and prepare food for the public.
Although officials do not keep records on the ages food-handler test takers, McPhee is sure his son is one of the youngest ever to earn the certification.
The boy juggles homeschool work with helping his father out in the store.
Ian said he doesn’t let the aroma of french fries or packages of sweets interfere with his studies.
