FORKS — A search is on for a suspect in the death of a Forks woman who died of multiple stab wounds after a domestic violence incident early Sunday morning.
Police are seeking Dario Ramirez-Moises in connection with the death of Laranda Konopaski, 18, of Forks, said Forks Police Sgt. Ed Klahn.
Police are hoping a member of the public can help locate the suspect, Klahn said.
Konopaski died of multiple stab wounds at Forks Community Hospital before 6 a.m., said Forks Mayor Bryon Monohon.
“There is an all-points bulletin out for the suspect,” Monohon said.
According to Monohon, police responded to a reported incident at 5:09 a.m. at the Rainforest Mobile Home Park, where they found the victim at a unit.
“Other facts are still coming together,” Monohon said.
Clallam County sheriff’s deputies, State Patrol troopers, U.S. Border Patrol officers and a Port Angeles Police Department canine unit are assisting the Forks police, Monohon said.
Konopaski was a member of the Clallam Bay High School Class of 2011.
“This is a small community; everyone knows each other” said Kandy Ritter, superintendent of Cape Flattery School District.
Ritter, along with teachers and staff members, were at the school Sunday preparing for when students return Monday.
Counselors will be available at the school for students and staff members to deal with the death of their former schoolmate.
Konopaski attended Cape Flattery schools from preschool through high school, Ritter said.
Many students currently at Clallam Bay High knew Konopaski well, she said.
“This is just a tragedy,” Ritter said.
