SEQUIM — Sequim police were seeking a man and a woman after an armed robbery at the Sequim West Motel, 740 W. Washington St.
Detective Sgt. Sean Madison said a man reported that a woman he knew knocked on the door of his rented room at 3:45 a.m. Friday.
When he opened the door, an armed man unknown to him pushed his way in, demanding money and valuables, police said.
Madison said the unknown man was armed with a small handgun.
No shots were fired, and no one was hurt.
After collecting the victim’s money and other items that police declined to name, the pair fled the room, police said.
Estimated loss of $2K
Madison estimated the victim’s loss at about $2,000.
While not named specifically as a suspect, police are looking for a woman identified as Shelby Schleve, age 20 to 25, of unknown residence. Police described her as about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds.
The man police seek was described as a little taller than the woman — 5 feet, 9 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing between 210 and 240 pounds.
The victim told police the man was wearing sunglasses and a bandanna.
Madison stressed that the incident does not mean Sequim has an “armed pair running around robbing people.”
Police believe the victim was targeted and that the alleged robbers knew he had some items of value.
When asked if illegal drugs were involved, Madison said they often are a part of this kind of incident but declined to say if police believe drugs were related to this particular incident.
