PORT ANGELES — After a multi-hour standoff in Gales Addition on Tuesday night, Port Angeles police arrested a man they said is a “known associate” of a man they are seeking in connection with a Sunday morning burglary at a Cherry Street residence.
They missed Steven Dean Goodman, 24, who police are still seeking in connection with a Sunday morning burglary at a Cherry Street residence, said Deputy Chief Brian Smith.
“We were in the right place. We simply were there after subject had fled,” Smith said.
Cory Alexander Furford, 24, of Port Angeles was arrested on an unrelated warrant and questioned about the whereabouts of Goodman, Smith said.
Port Angeles police served a search warrant for Goodman and Furford and arrested Furford at about 8 p.m. Tuesday after arriving at the home in the 2300 block of East Third Avenue in Gales Addition at about 4:30 p.m.
Furford remained in the Clallam County jail on $5,000 bail this morning.
Police consider him to be a known associate of Goodman, a third suspect in the burglary of several firearms that the property owner interrupted Sunday morning.
Matthew Tyler Charles, 27, and Roxanne Rae Venske, 24, both of Port Angeles, were arrested for investigation of charges in connection with the burglary.
Charles and Venske are appearing in Clallam County Superior Court today, Charles to be charged with burglary in the first degree, theft of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm and
Venske with accomplice to burglary in the first degree and eluding police.
Charles and Venske were taken into custody Sunday night after a daylong chase and multi-agency search involving helicopters and police dogs of the woods west of Port Angeles in the unincorporated area south of state Highway 112 and west of the Elwha River.
Goodman is described as standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 195 pounds. He has blue eyes and light-colored hair.
