PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles police are hearing conflicting stories about what was initially reported as an armed kidnapping at Lincoln Park on Sunday.
Sgt. Joshua Powless said police are looking for more information to figure out what actually happened.
“We do have officers working on follow up today [Monday],” he said.
“Hopefully we’ll get more developments.”
He said two men, ages 20 and 24, were at Lincoln Park in a vehicle where they were met by two other men, who assaulted one of the victims.
“It sounds like these people know each other to some extent,” he said, though it wasn’t clear how well they actually know each other.
He said the incident was drug-related.
One of the men struck one of the victims in his head and pepper-sprayed him, Powless said, sending him to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles with a head injury.
One of the assailants was described to police as in his mid-20s, dark skinned, possibly Hispanic, with tattoos on his forearms, standing 6-foot-1-inch tall and weighing about 180 pounds with a buzzed haircut.
The other was described as a white, bald man in his mid-20s with a slim build.
They then entered the vehicle and the other victim drove the men west of Lincoln Park, said Officer Trevor Dropp.
The victims each gave conflicting reports of whether the men had a gun and it isn’t clear if it was a kidnapping, Powless said, adding there was no shooting.
He said information about the assault is also conflicting.
“There’s conflicting information from [the victims], but they are being cooperative,” he said.
