PORT TOWNSEND — Point Hudson Marina and RV Park will re-open more than a month ahead of schedule on Wednesday after they have been closed since September to accommodate rebuilding the north jetty.
The only exceptions are six 70-foot floats in the marina and several RV spots where contractor Orion Marine Group has a staging area and its on-site offices.
The floats and RV space will become available March 1, the date on which the re-opening was originally planned.
That could change, however, if Orion finishes its work early, said Matt Klontz, capital projects director and Port of Port Townsend engineer.
“This season we’re fortunate, we had such great weather at the start of the construction season,” Klontz said. “That really allowed them to get a good a good start on the project.”
The marina will close again after the Wooden Boat Festival ends Sept. 10, when rebuilding the south jetty will start with a scheduled re-opening in March.
The port has said completing that project within the same time frame as the north jetty will be more challenging because the south jetty is larger and more exposed to the elements.
