PORT LUDLOW — A Port Townsend woman was in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center on Saturday after a Friday wreck at the intersection of state highways 19 and 104 near Port Ludlow.
Two pickups collided at about 11 a.m. and blocked traffic in both directions on Highway 104 for about two hours, authorities said.
Lavonne Geiger, 52, of Port Townsend suffered a broken pelvis, she said from her room at Harborview in Seattle, adding she has no memory of the wreck. A hospital spokeswoman said her condition was stable.
James M. McCullough, 83, of Quilcene was, according to Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue, transported by ambulance to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton after reporting chest pains. A spokeswoman at Harrison said the hospital had no record of him.
Geiger had stopped at the intersection of Highway 19 and Highway 104 before pulling onto Highway 104, according to the State Patrol.
McCullough’s Ford Ranger pickup, which was traveling west on Highway 104, struck the driver’s side of Geiger’s Chevrolet pickup, the State Patrol said.
Troopers said the cause of the wreck was that Geiger failed to yield to McCullough.
The State Patrol said charges are pending.
Both cars were towed away.
Other agencies that helped at the wreck were East Jefferson Fire-Rescue, Quilcene Fire Rescue and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
