It might be spring weather across the Olympic Peninsula, but it’s still winter on Hurricane Ridge.
This week marks the beginning of clearing the road beyond the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center about 1½ miles out to the Hurricane Hill trail head.
The process using a front-end loader and an Oshkosh Super Snowblower will take about three to four weeks to complete, according to the park rangers working with the machines.
The hardest part is clearing the parking lot at the very top near the lodge where some drifts are still 10 feet deep.
The show by the snowblower attracted many visitors Tuesday morning.
