SEQUIM — Eight varied private gardens — including one built around a model railroad, another featuring a playground for dogs and a third designed on the principles of feng shui — will be open to the public Saturday.
A self-guided tour of the Sequim gardens is planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the 18th annual Petals & Pathways Home Garden Tour, sponsored by the Master Gardeners Foundation of Clallam County.
Four of the featured gardens are situated on small city lots and demonstrate how limited space can be designed into a private retreat.
Advance tickets for $15 are on sale in Sequim, Port Angeles and Port Townsend through today.
The day of the tour, tickets will be $20, available both at the gardens and at ticket outlets.
Gardens on the tour are Jan and Gary Chapman’s at 91 Dickinson St., Denny and Dan Donovan’s at 453 W. Hammond St., Lee Sharp and Karen Boorman’s at 45 Marigold Lane, Marilyn and Don Brenneis’ at 31 Nesting Place, Michele Kolker’s at 71 Nesting Place, Judy Sensitaffar’s at 302 N. Ryser Ave., Dick and Evelyn Wolf’s at 44 Timothy Lane, and Cynthia and David Martin’s at 4949 Woodcock Road.
The gardens may be visited in any order.
Tickets are available in Sequim at Red Rooster Grocery, 134½ W. Washington St.; McComb Gardens, 751 McComb Road; Henery’s Garden Center, 1060 Sequim-Dungeness Way; Over the Fence, 112 E. Washington St.; Peninsula Nursery, 1210 Cays Road; Sunny Farms Farm Store, 261461 W. U.S. Highway 101; and Vision Landscape Nursery, 131 Kitchen-Dick Road.
They are available in Port Angeles at Airport Garden Center, 2200 W. Edgewood Drive; Gross’s Nursery & Florist, 826 E. First St.; Port Books and News, 104 E. First St.; and Clallam County Extension Office, Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Suite 15.
In Port Townsend, tickets can be purchased at Henery’s Garden Center, 406 Benedict St.
Tickets include a description of each garden and driving instructions to each location. Each garden will be marked with a pink banner.
Proceeds from the tour help support Master Gardeners plant clinics and educational programs.
