PORT ANGELES — Kyle Cronk, CEO of the Olympic Peninsula YMCA, will help select the next national president of the organization.

Cronk was tabbed as one of three YMCA CEOs to help select a successor for retiring Y-USA President Neil Nicoll, who will step down at the end of the year after a 46-year career with the Y.

Cronk joins a 10-member search committee composed of Y-USA board members, past board chairs and association CEOs in the selection process.

Y-USA is the national office for the nation’s 2,716 YMCAs, which serve 12 million adults and 10 million youths annually.

“Filling Neil’s shoes will not be easy, but I’m thrilled and honored to join the search committee to find a cause-driven leader that will propel the Y movement forward,” Cronk said in a Wednesday statement.

The other two YMCA CEOs chosen are Tom Looby of the Tampa metropolitan YMCA and Kathy Riggins of the Silicon Valley YMCA.

The committee will begin interviews later this summer. The next Y-USA president and CEO will be named in the fall.

“We are deeply committed to the current direction and future plans of Y-USA and our movement,” said Christine C. Marcks, chairwoman of the USA board.

“In searching for Neil’s successor, we will target candidates who share this commitment. Preparations for this search are already underway.”

Cronk become CEO of the Port Angeles-based Olympic Peninsula YMCA in 2009.
