Peninsula residents will be able to see a crab and seafood festival which includes a crab derby and restaurant tour, an energy expo, a celebration of West End heritage, a mushroom show and the Jefferson County Farm Tour.
The Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival will be held in Port Angeles and Sequim on Saturday and Sunday.
The event features a festival at John Wayne Marina, the Port Angeles Crab Derby and a North Olympic Peninsula Restaurant tour.
Admission to the festival is free and opportunities to taste Dungeness crab will be available for fees ranging from $2 to $19.
The festival will be held at the marina, 2577 West Sequim Bay Road from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
A $19 per plate community crab feast will be held throughout the festival, and vendors will sell crab, salmon and other seafood dishes for various prices.
Wine tasting, a beer garden, live music, cooking demonstrations, storytelling by Jamestown S’Klallam and Lower Elwha Klallam tribal members, educational displays and children’s activities will round out the event both days.
In the agricultural tent, people will also be able to purchase bulbs from the Port Angeles Rotary Club for its annual sale.
Horticulturist Andrew May will be available to answer questions about bulbs and gardening.
Proceeds from the annual fund-raiser will benefit the welcome sign area people see as they come into Port Angeles and other beautification projects.
The Port Angeles Crab Derby at City Pier will allow people to try their hand at catching Dungeness crabs Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Five hundred live tagged crabs have been planted in Port Angeles Harbor.
All people who catch a legal-sized crab will be entered in a drawing for various prizes, and whomever catches one special crab will also hold the keys to a 2003 Nissan Xterra from Wilder Auto Center.
People can register during the derby or today from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave.
People must have a valid Washington State Shellfish License, pay a $5 registration fee and supply crab pots to participate in the derby.

Energy Expo
The annual Olympic Energy Expo will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Clallam County Fairgrounds, 1608 W. 16th St., Port Angeles.
The event is free of charge and features various displays and hands-on demonstrations to highlight everything from energy-saving vehicles to creating gardens to cut back on the need for air conditioning.
Booths and demonstrations will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Art Linkletter at gala
Television personality and author Art Linkletter is scheduled to appear Saturday at the Olympic Medical Center Founda’s annual gala and fundraiser.
The black-tie, $125-per-plate dinner event is scheduled for 6 p.m. at SunLand Country Golf and Club, north of Sequim.
All about mushrooms
Area mushroom fans can learn more about what regional forests offer at the Olympic Peninsula Mycological Society’s annual Wild Mushroom Show on Sunday.
The show will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tri-Area Community Center in Chimacum.
The free event will feature displays of local edible, non-edible and poisonous mushrooms.
Heritage on display
On the western end of the North Olympic Peninsula, the annual Hickory Shirt/Heritage Days, an eight-day celebration of the heritage of the West End, continues today and Saturday.

* Noon: Dedication of a western red cedar to honor Wiley and Ed Duncan who found the tree while cutting timber for Rayonier Inc. in 1975.
During a brief ceremony the tree will be dedicated as “The Duncan Cedar” by State Commissioner of Public Lands Doug Sutherland.
The ceremony will occur at the 178-foot tall tree located in section 36, township 26 along Nolan Creek in Jefferson County.
* 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.: 7th annual Fish and Brew Contest featuring samples of smoked salmon and home brewed ales.
The free event will be held in the barn at Huckleberry Lodge, 1171 Big Pine Way.
