Weather is still delaying the Kalakala’s move to Neah Bay and keeping the dilapidated ferry in Seattle’s Lake Union until at least Tuesday.
With red tape out of the way, Kalakala owner Steve Rodrigues said Saturday he is still waiting for calm seas to start the 42-hour trip to tow the 276-foot rusting hulk west.
“The only obstacle today is weather,” he said.
“We have overcome all moving requirements and have accomplished those through all agencies.”
Weather forecasts for Monday were not promising for the journey, so Rodrigues said he will consult Tuesday’s weather forecast today.
The tow was delayed for a week as Rodrigues first struggled to meet U.S. Coast Guard and state Department of Natural Resources regulations.
