The unemployment rate in Jefferson and Clallam counties decreased in April, according to new state figures.
A report released Tuesday by the state Employment Security Department shows unemployment dropped in Jefferson County from 6.6 percent in March to 6.0 percent in April.
Unemployment in Clallam County fell from 8.1 percent to 7.2 percent during the same period.
Statewide, the unemployment rate decreased from 7.3 percent in March to 7.0 percent in April. In 2001 the April unemployment rate was 5.9 percent.
