If the weather permits, Jefferson and Clallam residents will see a total lunar eclipse tonight.
The lunar eclipse, which happens when the Earth blocks sunlight from lighting up the moon, will start at 7:03 p.m. The full eclipse will happen at 8:14 p.m.
During a total eclipse, the moon passes into the Earth’s shadow.
The eclipse will end at 9:06 p.m.
The last total lunar eclipse took place in 2001. There can be up to three each year.
If it’s cloudy tonight, take heart, as a second chance is on the way.
On Nov. 8, another total lunar eclipse will be seen from the North Olympic Peninsula.
