PORT ANGELES — The state worker strike is coming to the North Olympic Peninsula today.
Striking employees will picket the Department of Social and Health Services office in downtown Port Angeles.
Downtown protesters are expected to gather shortly before 7 a.m. and picket until at least 5 p.m. in front of 201 E. First St.
At Peninsula College, classified staff — which includes office and support workers — are planning a walkout between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. today.
The striking, 19,000-member Washington Federation of State Employees has 150 members on the North Olympic Peninsula.
They include about 30 Department of Transportation employees and 119 members of Local 1463, which includes workers from state Employment Security, department of Labor and Industries, Corrections, and Peninsula College classified staff.
