PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles-based band Witherow will make its television debut at 7 p.m. Nov. 21 on KCTS 9 public television.
The group will appear on the show “PIE,” according to KCTS.
The show is described on the KCTS website as “art, music, history and the innovative spirit that makes our corner of the world a fascinatingly dynamic place.”
“We are insanely excited. It gives us the opportunity to tour more and get our music to more people,” said Dillan Witherow, a co-founding member of the group and former member of Witherow and Gibson.
The other co-founding member is wintergrass veteran Abby Mae, formerly of Abby Mae & the Homeschool Boys.
The two sing with the quartet that includes Jason Taylor and Adam Bettger.
The band’s music is in transition, from a bluegrass-folk sound to more of an “etherial rock with bluegrass roots,” Witherow said.
Witherow and Mae learned Tuesday that their band made the final cut for the show.
Played in Seattle
Witherow’s path to television began when the band played The Triple Door, a popular Seattle venue that features major national acts, Witherow said.
“We opened for David Ryan Harris, and they discovered us there,” he said.
The group was in Seattle working on a new single, which Witherow said would be released in January, when they received a call from KCTS.
“We spent half the day recording in their studios,” he said.
The original taping for the show took place in September.
