Most public school districts on the North Olympic Peninsula resume classes this week.
Crescent School District in Joyce began classes on Thursday.
Port Angeles grades from first through 12th will start classes on Tuesday, as will the Chimacum School District. Port Angeles kindergarten will begin on Friday.
Wednesday will be the first day of school for the Sequim, Cape Flattery, Quilcene and Brinnon school districts. Sequim’s Olympic Peninsula Academy will have Otter Day on Thursday.
Classes will resume Thursday at the Quilayute Valley School District in Forks.
The Port Townsend School District has several first days of school coming up.
Both Port Townsend High School and Blue Heron Middle School start classes Tuesday. Opportunity Community Experience, Academics, Navigation (Ocean), the independent study alternative learning program for kindergarten through 12th-grade students held at Blue Heron, begins Sept 10.
Due to the ongoing labor strike by members of Local 302 of the International Union of Operating Engineers in Western Washington, the start of school at the new Salish Coast Elementary is set for Sept. 11.
