Primary election ballots will be mailed today to registered voters across the state, including the North Olympic Peninsula.
In races with three or more candidates, the Aug. 5 top-two primary election will narrow the Nov. 4 general election ballot to the two candidates who receive the most votes.
Write-in candidates must receive 1 percent of the vote to move on to the general election.
Also on the primary ballot are all partisan races, even those with two or fewer candidates. Nonpartisan races with fewer than three candidates will not appear on the ballot.
The Clallam County Auditor’s Office will mail ballots to the 46,577 registered voters in Clallam County today, after having mailed 553 ballots to military and overseas voters June 19.
A total of 22,851 voting in Jefferson County will have been mailed ballots by today. The Printery of Port Townsend is mailing 22,522 ballots to registered voters today, while the Jefferson County Auditor’s Office will mail today to those who registered after the office’s deadline to the print shop.
Ballots were mailed June 19 to military and overseas voters.
All Peninsula voters will vote on the race for the 6th Congressional District, the 24th District state legislator seats and their respective county’s prosecuting attorney positions.
Only the 13,375 voters registered in Clallam County District 3 will nominate the two candidates who will appear on the November ballot for the county commissioner position. The entire county will vote for a new commissioner in November.
Jefferson County
In Jefferson County, all also will vote on the assessor, auditor, clerk, sheriff and treasurer positions.
Only the 969 registered voters in the Brinnon Fire District will vote on a proposed property tax levy.
Only the 7,492 registered voters in Jefferson County Commissioner District 3 will vote in that race. The entire county will vote on the seat in the general election.
Only the 7,483 voters in Jefferson County Commissioner District 2 will vote for the public utility district seat.
Clallam County voters who have not received ballots by Monday are asked to request a replacement ballot from the Auditor’s Office at 360-417-2217 or at the courthouse at 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Voters in Jefferson County who have not received ballots by next Wednesday are asked to contact the Auditor’s Office at 360-385-9119 or at the courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
