PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles police said the city averaged about a burglary a day for 15 days beginning Nov. 17.
Jewelry, checkbooks, DVDs, lawn equipment and a shotgun were all taken during this recent spike in break-ins, according to police.
More than 15 burglaries were reported. Police believe the crimes occurred between Nov. 17-19, 21-22, 26 and last Tuesday and Thursday.
Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith said it’s unclear if the burglaries, which have hit both businesses and homes, are connected.
He expects many to be shown to be related as the investigation progresses, he said in a statement issued Friday.
In some of the reports, power was cut to the home or business before it was entered, Smith said.
That resembles previous high-profile break-ins done earlier in the year by Andrew White, who was believed by police to be connected to 20 burglaries.
White, 21, is serving a 29-month prison sentence after pleading guilty two months ago to four burglaries.
Locations of the recent burglaries include the 800 block of East Front Street, 1300 block of West 11th Street, 200 block of West First Street, 100 block of South DelGuzzi Drive, 300 block of East Eighth Street, 500 block of East Seventh Street, 300 and 500 blocks of East Park Avenue, 1500 block of South C Street, 200 block of West Fourth Street, 500 block of South Tumwater Truck Route, 1200 block of South Peabody Street and 1500 block of South Milwaukee Street.
The burglaries occurred between early morning and mid-evening.
